In honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the 5th of August, Chiusi’s districts will race a kind of tennis called “Ball at the cuff”, but the real fun is guaranteed in another game, the “Running of the Pigs”, a spectacular race that always draws a few thousand spectators. From end of August, each evening, there will also be food festivals and dancing offered by the Contrada della Fornace, who organizes the event this year. T-BONE Steak Festival – Every August 14, 15 and 16 at the gardens.
Local expert will cook in a giant (6 metres) barbecue the traditional steaks “alla fiorentina”. It is the Tuscan “chianina” meat breed, that will be cooked as per the ancient Tuscan heritage. Off course there will be served also typical Tuscan red wines.

The 14th edition of Calici di Stelle returns, as it does every year, to celebrate the night of St. Lawrence with its protagonist : the noble wine of Montepulciano DOCG and red of Montepulciano DOC. Fifty Montepulciano cellars will be open for tastings of their own reds. The 8 Contrade of the Bravio delle Botti, will open their homes for visitors to taste authentic local and traditional gastronomic products.

August last week – THE BRAVIO DELLE BOTTI.
The barrel rolling race is an event that dates back to 1373.
The main event, the race will be on August 30 between the eight Contradas of Montepulciano competing for their traditional Palio. Barrels of a weigh of 80 kg are rolled uphill about 1800 mt along Montepulciano. The grand finale is at Piazza Grande.
Mask processions precede the competition and social dinner along the contradas.
